Description British Court Medieval Style Chess Set, Bronze and Silver Finish. This set of Collector Grade British Court Medieval Style Chess pieces captures the grandeur and chivalry of medieval English royalty in finely detailed cast metal. Produced with contrasting antique bronze and silver finishes, the set offers excellent weight and a dramatic board presence. The King stands a full 4 inches tall with a broad1-3/8″ base, making it an ideal display size serving as a fully functional set of chessmen for casual play. This is a modern (mid-to-late 20th century) cast metal reproduction in the popular European collector style. The theme draws from medieval British court life, most likely inspired by the Plantagenet or early Tudor periods (12th–16th centuries). One side represents the English Royal Court while the opposing army depicts a rival court. The reticulated architectural rooks strongly evoke the fortified world of English chivalry. The dual metallic finishes beautifully accentuate every detail: chainmail textures, heraldic shields, architectural stonework on the rooks, and the flowing lines of royal garments. The circular bases feature decorative banding ties the set together visually. These British Court Medieval Style Chess pieces play and display best on a chessboard with 2-1/4″ or 2-3/8″ squares. The chessmen were likely produced in Italy around `1975.
